"Dune" is a film adaptation of the science fiction novel of the same name written by Frank Herbert. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film was released in 2021. The story is set in the distant future, where noble families fight for control of the desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune, due to its valuable spice called "melange", which grants powers mental health and prolongs life. The protagonist, Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet), is the young heir of House Atreides, who is tasked with ruling Arrakis by the galactic emperor. However, they face hostility from House Harkonnen, who previously controlled the planet. Paul is influenced by mysterious visions that suggest a grand destiny for him on Arrakis. As the plot unfolds, Paul discovers his latent powers and becomes a central figure in an ancient prophecy that involves the future of Arrakis and the universe. He joins the native people of Arrakis, known as Fremen, in their fight against imperial oppression and exploitation of the planet.
